Hotel for IWPS 2011 sold out?
« on: September 16, 2011, 07:23:40 PM »
Hello there.  Our representative for IWPS 2011, Chris Gilpin, just booked his flight and tried to book his hotel room only to be told that the Wyndham is fully booked.  Anyone else experience that?  Any back-up recommendations for hotels close to the venues?

One option would be to have him look for a roommate who already has a room. Either here or on the social networks.

Thanks.  We'll explore that option first.  There are a lot of familiar faces on the list. : )

I just made a reservation today.   They could only give me a room for the first three nights.   They said they were booked for Saturday night.

Peace, Fam:

There are 4 rooms left for Friday and 9 rooms left for Saturday.  Casey Davis Gwin, our contact at Wyndham, said that she is willing to secure those rooms directly.

The hotel is indeed pretty much sold out (which I think is incredible).  I understand from the Host City that there is a Radisson up the street that may be able to hold our overflow.  We're looking into that and hoping to negotiate a deal.

Contact Casey directly at:

That is great news to hear Phoenix.
please post when you get additional rooms.  I have a poet in dire need of a room for iwps.  he is also willing to bunk with anyone if they are looking to save money.

Cheaper than the Radisson and just down the street is a Comfort Inn.  I just booked 4 nights (still need a roommate if someone wants to split it) with 2 double beds for $440 with breakfast and airport shuttle.  It's a 5 minute walk from the host hotel according to goodle maps.

I just booked myself a double room at the Comfort Inn (Choice Hotels) at 1800 Euclid.   It is walking distance from (and actually the closest hotel to) the CSU campus.   There were more rooms open there.
