UPDATE: iWPS 2010 Host Change
« on: August 14, 2010, 05:33:09 PM »
Dear PSi members,

We have had a change of venue for iWPS 2010.  Due to unavoidable circumstances we are unable to provide you with the level of quality you’ve come to associate with our events in Philadelphia with what time we have left on the calendar.  To ensure that the event continues to move forward and succeed we are moving iWPS 2010 to Charlotte, where we’ve had great success with iWPS in the past.  The host city team will largely consist of the same crew that gave us successful events before, and will be utilizing resources and venues we’re familiar with.

The date for iWPS will conversely be switched to early December dates.  We will have that information for you very soon.  Also, registration will likely open one week later than we planned, but still well before the end of August.

Those of you who have been around a while know that these things sometimes happen.  Sometimes we can’t get every resource lined up the way we’d like to ensure the kind of event we’ve been able to provide in recent years, and we waited as long as we could before making this decision.  We will continue to do everything we can to alleviate this type of change in the future.

We thank you for your patience and support, thank Sherod and Philly for their efforts to date, and look forward to seeing many of you at what will be an awesome event in Charlotte this December.

Is Philadelphia being considered for a future iWPS?
« Reply #2 on: August 14, 2010, 05:56:31 PM »
We have some interest in Philadelphia are a venue from a couple of poets who have relocated from that area and were looking forward to a homecoming of sorts.

Please let me know.

If the question is the title of the post, then no, not at this time.

Bummer. I'll pass that on.

I'm really sorry it did not work out.
I was hoping to maie it to Philadelphia, too.

I know Ch will do a great job and that it will be a great even
and lots of fun.
It all will work out.

I have an immediate factor to brig to you attention.
You probably already know it but still keep in mind
the beginning of December means that students take their final exams
this may be a huge factor...

I'll try to come to Charlotte to help with the bouts
and to meet friends. So, post the dates ASAP.
It would be my first iWPS.

BTW, as a possibility,
lots of poets may have an open date on the dares when it was supposed to happen in Philly.

Philly still could have a great event, a great slam, if they want to do it.
Just because iWPS moves, it does not mean that there cannot be a greaty event in philly
maybe some scaled down event, open mics...
some serious slam
Especially, if they can put some money on the line.

Wow,  Stefan!  We missed you at NPS this year!  Looking forward to seeing you at IWPS!
Inkera, I know you'll connect me with the appropriate parties to plan volunteer coordination!  And I know they've done it all before, very well, so it should be a breeze!
Love
Casandra

Cassandra, it's gonna be awesome working with you again! I'll be the EvC for this event. With Inkera as Chair, we go wrong!

The dates should be announced in less than 2 weeks. We know it will be early Dec. Registration normally opens 60 days prior to the event. The EC is currently discussing this now.

That should say, "we can't go wrong".

@ Erin: I'll have you any way I can get you.  :)

@Phoenix: You are a rockstar goddess, and I look forward to making some seriously smooth magic happen.  Just got off the phone with Jina Meadows, Host City Vol Coor, and she's the same Vol Coor from IWPS in '08 so I've worked UNDER her before and she does this job extraordinarily well.  YAY!
