Cookie issues in Firefox
« on: February 13, 2008, 03:30:39 PM »
So, after having some issues with Internet Explorer at work, I have switched to using Firefox.  The problem has become that I am used to entering in http://forums.poetryslam.com/ as my way to find this site.  However, whenever I do I am asked to log in again.

But... when I enter http://poetryslam.com/forum/index.php as my URL/URI it works fine and dandy.  Obviously, there's an issue with the scope of the cookie that keeps the handy dandy session information stored.  How hard would it be to a) change the cookie's scope to include all subdomains or b) force a redirect to http://poetryslam.com/forum/index.php when accessing http://forums.poetryslam.com/ ?

Just to chime in: I've been experiencing the same problem. I believe this is a new issue which started after the big poetryslam.com relaunch.

Thanks for mentioning it, Jesse.

Direct access to the forum is the issue, as opposed to accessing it through the CMS framework.

We used to have a separate forum, store, and news site.  Now they are all linked, with one login.  However, I left access to the old forum  directory open for people who didn't update your links when I made that announcement, or just didn't see it.

Access to this forum is best made by going here:

http://poetryslam.com/index.php?option=com_smf

Going to forums.poetryslam.com or poetryslam.com/forum will still work (so bookmarks and links didn't break), but you will experience cookie issues. When I upgrade the CMS next I'll move the directories around and set up some mod_rewrites to fix that, but that's not going to happen until closer to Slammasters.
