2015/2016 Slam Season
New location tbd
Once monthly (2nd Tuesdays) From Sept-March
Slam ULIT is a 2 round slam. The first round will be a head to head elimination round with order determined by random draw*.
(I.e. Poets will draw numbers; poet 1 vs. 2, 3 vs. 4 etc) up to 14poets
The highest score of each bout will advance to round 2. Round 2 will be a standard slam round. With the reverse order of the first round determing the order. The cumulative score of both rounds will determine the top 3 poets and winners of the night.
*If an odd number or less than 10 poets sign up to compete, 2 standard slam rounds will be had. With the top 5-7 scoring poets advancing to round 2. Cumulative scores will still determine the top 3 poets of the evening.
**ELIGIBILITY FOR THE TEAM SELECTION SLAM WILL BE DETERMINED BY A POINT SYSTEM.**
In order to compete in the finals/team selection slam; or have the opportunity to make the team, a poet has to obtain at least 4 placing points throughout the course of Slam ULIT'S slam season.
PLACING POINTS WILL BE ASSESSED AS FOLLOWS:
First place = 4 points, and automatic invitation to the finals/team selection slam.
Second place= 3 points
Third place= 2 points
Sacrificial poet= 1 point
Host= 1 point.
Any combination of placing and/or being a sacrificial poet, as long as it is equal to, or more than 4 points, will earn a poet a chance to compete in the finals.
10 points = retirement until the finals.
Finals is a standard psi sanctioned 3 round slam of 10- 12 poets. With cuts made every round until we have 7 poets to take to the last round. The top 5 cumulative scorers of the night will make the team.
Should 1 poet have to drop or be removed from the team as deemed necessary by the slam master, the team will go from a 5 to 4 member team. Should 2 poets drop or be removed, the slam master will fulfill competive obligations and the team will continue on as four. If 3 poets drop; the slam and co slam masters will fulfill the competitive obligations or hold a vote with candidates being eligible only if they have scored points during the slam season to replace them.
